The Last Ride of the Dalton Gang (1979)
Director: Dan Curtis.
Starring: Cliff Potts (Bob Dalton), Randy Quaid (Grat Dalton) Larry Wilcox (Emmet Dalton), Sharon Farrell (Flo Quick), Royal Dano (Pa Dalton), Mills Watson (Bill Dalton), Bo Hopkins (Billy Doolin), Dale Robertson (Judge Isaac Parker), Jack Palance (Will Smith), Don Collier (Frank Dalton).
Made for TV movie.
This movie is partly comedic, getting laughs from the antics of the three closest Dalton brothers. Having fun with Bob, Grat and Emmett, three very bad guys, is not my idea of a proper comedic subject. Maybe the kids would find it funny, I just had a couple of smiles.
Crime itself is extremely interesting (look at the recent proliferation of movies and TV shows about criminal forensics and serial killers, but the characters' motivations are not examined. We never learn why the guys, some of who were involved on the side of the police, changed from being good guys to being bad guys. That's a substantial change, but no clue as to why. The characters and plot are just too flimsy to be really enjoyed.
