Easy Rider (1969)

Director:    Dennis Hopper

Starring:     Peter Fonda (Wyatt), Dennis Hopper (Billy), Antonio Mendoza (Jesus), Phil Spector (Connection), Mac Mashourian (Bodyguard), Warren Finnerty (Rancher), Tita Colorado (Rancher's Wife), Luke Askew (Stranger on Highway), Luana Anders (Lisa), Sabrina Scharf (Sarah), Sandy Brown Wyeth (Joanne), Robert Walker Jr. (Jack).

Illustrates the theme of the baby boom generation: "sex, drugs, and rock and roll."  Two free-spirited druggie bikers (Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper) are out to see a bit of America and indulge in a little sex and drugs along the way.  Jack Nicholson as a very eccentric local yokel alcoholic lawyer who wants a taste of freedom made a big hit with this role.  The film also has an important insight into the good, old U.S.A.  Those who want a hippie-type life style quickly run afoul of the racist and puritan life-style proponents, who see hippies as a real threat to their own life-styles. And, indeed, the result is often a violent clash with the hippies usually on the receiving end of the violence.
