Return of the Secaucus Seven (1980)

Director:    John Sayles.

Starring:    Bruce MacDonald, Gordon Clapp, Maggie Renzi, Mark Arnott, Adam Lefevre.

John Sayles is now a famous independent director, but this film was his first, made on a budget of $60,000. The film is about seven political activists in the 1960s who in their mid-30s are reunited for a weekend get-together.  The movie inspired the much more successful "The Big Chill", but see the Sayles movie instead because it is much more representative of the political activists of the 60s.  The group discuss their everyday struggles with such subjects as love, art, money, and remaining political commitment.
